William Spang William Spang is the managing partner of the Washington, D.C. office of Mitchell & Titus, a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited. Bill leads the Government and Not-for-Profit Practices for the firm from the Philadelphia office. He is a certified public accountant in various states.
He has nearly 35 years of experience in public accounting. Bill joined Mitchell & Titus after working over 28 years with Ernst & Young, where he led its Public Sector and Not-for-Profit Practice in Philadelphia and served financial services and international clients. His experience also includes serving as assistant to the vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. in the mid-1980s.
Bill specializes in independent auditing and assisting with internal audits. He also advises his clients on governance and other operational matters. His clients include governmental entities at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as a wide range of not-for-profit organizations. Bill frequently leads professional development seminars for the firm’s professional staff. In addition, Bill organizes and leads firm-sponsored industry conferences and has made presentations on regulatory and accounting developments.
He graduated summa cum laude from Temple University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Bill is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and has served on its Committee on Tort Reform. Bill’s board involvement includes serving as treasurer of the International Visitors Council of Philadelphia and as Audit and Finance Committee chairman of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. He is also an active member of Temple University’s Accounting Advisory Council.
